About Everett Klein
Everett Klein is an illustrator from Gloucester, Massachusetts. He is drawn to visual art and stories that have elements of the macabre or fantastical, and finds that, in addition to providing powerful visuals, genres like horror and fantasy often provide impactful metaphors through which to think about identity. He plans to continue to use illustration to develop characters, stories, and worlds.
Statement
Presented here is the first chapter of my ongoing comic project titled Green’s Circus. The story centers on the ensemble of performers at the eponymous circus. This first chapter presents a nightmare sequence experienced by Pious the Clown, in which he relives the murder he committed many years ago before joining the circus. My process behind this project has been to try to make a story which captures the fun and compelling elements of media I enjoy, and draws inspiration from a variety of comics, film, and television for elements of both narrative and visual style.
