Statement
A face peering around a doorway is seldom a severed head. A still image can capture the moment before the body moves into sight, where there is infinite possibility for strangeness, drama, and humor. The visual conventions through which we understand images are my favorite tools, and with them I reveal the remarkable in the mundane.
In my paintings and drawings, everyday situations are presented for reconsideration with changes in scale, perspective shifts, and bold distortions. Using a few choice lines and the right eye level, an ant and an elephant can appear the same size, a hundred feet apart.
