About Lilly Duchesney

Lilly Duchesney is a designer and digital fabricator from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Loves to work with her hands and create digital files to bring to life in the physical world. She received a BFA in Graphic Design from the College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Her love for digital fabrication and book arts has grown so much over the past few years. She is making things all the time with multiple fabrication methods.

Statement

Lilly is very interested in Digital Fabrication and has been expanding her knowledge about each medium within digital fabrication throughout her last two years of college. She wants to continue to collaborate with different artists and expand her knowledge of various types of media. In the future, she hopes to work with a community of people in a collaborative studio environment; working with others on projects to promote art and design to the community and get people interested.

Her senior capstone is called A Collection of Collections and it is inspired by Cabinets of Curiosities. Lilly houses her handmade books and other collections and trinkets on a shelf she made with her dad. Once her books were finished, she started making tiny potion bottles and tiny books, some of which were made for her friends to fill with their contents. She also made a big potion bottle and a small terrarium to add to the shelf. There are five main books showcasing collections from Lilly herself, close friends, and family members. She photographed each item and put them into an InDesign file to print. Next, she bound each page together and glued them into hard covers. She incorporated prints from her screen-printing class as the inside decor paper for the covers. Lastly, she designed each cover to have the theme of its contents.
