About Makayla Miranda
Makayla is a graphic designer from Fall River, Massachusetts. She is finishing her senior year at The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth majoring in graphic design. She has always had a love for art since a young age but was inspired to become a designer because of her love of pop culture such as movie posters and album covers. She is also heavily inspired by nature as well with organic shapes which is seen within her art and design work.
Statement
As someone who has lived my whole life with a family member who lives with epilepsy, I have seen firsthand the way it can affect someone who struggles with it along with being aware of how it feels to be a family member seeing your loved one struggling with it. At the age of 2 years old was the first time I saw my mother have an epileptic seizure. This is why I have always tried to educate people on the subject and have discovered people do not know what epilepsy is or are only aware of myths and false information associated with seizures. This is why I wanted to use my skills in graphic design to help educate people about epilepsy and seizures along with how these disorders affect individual lives.
