Statement
I have loved progressing through my studio courses during my time at UMass Dartmouth. Two of my favorite projects were the Encore Haven Suites, a conceptual boutique hotel designed in the Rococo style, as well as the Sips & Sunrise Café, a cafe designed to the concept of a mimosa. The hotel, located in Chicago, was designed to fit in with one of the city’s best-known attractions: live theatre. Each room is themed to a different Broadway show, offering family-friendly amenities and activities on site. The hotel’s cafe, Sips & Sunrise, is designed to be a vibrant breakfast buffet during the day and a relaxing yet vibrant bar-setting at night. The design is centered around the concept of a mimosa; bright, bubbly, and refreshing. In the cafe, lighting plays a key role in the restaurant’s flexibility, with fixtures inspired by the project’s concept.
