Art + Design BFA: Illustration
About Audrey Biron
Audrey Biron is an illustrator from the South Coast of Massachusetts. A self-taught teen artist, she went on to study at Bristol Community College in Fall River, graduating with an Associate of Art degree in 2023 before transferring to UMass Dartmouth. It was here that she began to specialize in digital illustration.
Audrey brings a lifelong passion for science and nature to her work. When the weather permits, she can often be found gardening, hiking, and looking for critters on the beach. While indoors she likes to imagine a world where the critters are unlike anything found on Earth.
Statement
The Field Guide to Xenogaia is a speculative evolution zine centering the reader as a prospective explorer of a newly created alien world. The world of Xenogaia was populated with primitive organisms using genetic material from Earth’s biosphere and left alone to develop on its own. The reader will discover the strange yet familiar animals of Xenogaia and how their environment has shaped them. The Field Guide to Xenogaia is an exploration of how our understanding of evolution and natural selection can be applied to a fictional world.
