About Ben Thwing

A 21-year-old male artist and designer from Pembroke, Massachusetts. Who is looking forward to a career in graphic design outside of CVPA. Before switching to graphic design as his field of study, Ben majored in the fine art of drawing. Ben switched to graphic design in the spring semester of 2024. His most recent work focuses on motion design for social media posts but has worked in a variety of practices within the field of graphic design. Ben is a photographer who works at the school newspaper and has a large body of sports photography. Outside of the arts, Ben likes to spend time fishing and playing video games with friends.

Statement

Positive Pelican is a social media brand I have created to spread positive environmental news. My personal reason behind this project is to create something opposite of what is usually seen on platforms like Instagram, which pushes negative forms of content to keep people on their devices. Creating a positive medium of information can help offset people's algorithms, which is why I have created the Positive Pelican. It's a brand for people who want an indie news source that is a breath of fresh air from what is online. Positive Pelican’s main content is 3 social media videos which range from 30 seconds to a little over a minute. Each video goes over a positive environmental change in the year 2025.
