About Caroline Tracy
Caroline Tracy is an illustrator and writer with a passion for storytelling and sequential art. Based between MA and NC, they focus heavily on line work and character interaction, working with digital and traditional media for comics and zines. When they are not hunched over their desk drawing, they can be found writing, running a D&D session, or obsessing over a certain wall-crawling superhero.
Statement
Ghosted is a graphic novel in development that follows a recent college graduate who loses her best friend in a fatal accident and suddenly begins to see her ghost. Adapted from the screenplay I wrote called Bucket List of the Dead, this novel is a visual exploration of grief with supernatural trappings, following a stoic protagonist, zombie-like spirits, and philosophical debates about acceptance of death. Not everyone can say they have seen a ghost, but the feelings of loss they represent are universal; the solidarity of having lived. Through the tribulation of acceptance, part of the ‘five stages of grief’, there is always that quiet moment where we think, “I’d do just about anything to get back to where I’ve been.” The question is: What would you be willing to do to get back?
