About Connor J.M. Brebner

Connor Brebner is a passionate mixed-media illustrator who mashes various traditional and digital techniques together to create images that are packed with texture and energy. His love for the fantasy genre has crystalized into his driving inspiration, the backbone of his Capstone project. Equipped with a plethora of pens and markers, as well as a trusty scanner, Connor works in the hopes that one day he will be able to share his world with anybody curious enough to ask the question:

“So, do you have some setting that this all happens in?”

Statement

In the late hours of night, an elderly goblin sneaks away from his home in the urban desert nation of Sceoles to perform a grand tour of the lands of Mirantibus. On his journey, he plans to capture paintings of this fantasy world's majesty before reuniting with his wife in the Resting Lands, no matter how much he hates travel, the outdoors, people... just about everything, really.

Troubadour: The Basin’s Canvas is a mix between traditional storybook and graphic novel that follows the artistic and emotional journey of the world’s grumpiest painter unfold as he traverses vast and ominous woodlands, colossal mountains and valleys, and claustrophobic cities. In a world that is larger than life, this is the story of someone who is a little short, in both size and temper.

The world of Troubadour is called Mirantibus – a setting I have built over the course of six years, filled with history, odd magic, and a fondness for all those who have come to my D&D table. This book is a love letter to my players, who have humored me through my frantic ravings and overlapping plotlines for several years. Just as much, it is also a funhouse reflection of the person I have become, and the lessons I have learned as an art student away from home.
