Statement
Dating back to the ancient world and popularized in the Middle Ages, bestiaries are books featuring illustrations with text that informs the reader about a variety of animals. Since learning about these books in a medieval art history class, I kept the idea of creating my own in the back of my mind. When I decided to create my own bestiary, I wanted to make it cute and whimsical, combining animals with other creatures and their surroundings to make something new. I then added text to describe the behaviors and unique traits of the creatures to add to the overall feeling of a complete bestiary.
