About Heather Gallant

Heather Gallant is currently studying Interior Architecture and Design at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and will graduate in May 2026. She is proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Enscape, InDesign, and Photoshop. Her interest in design began at a young age and has grown into a strong passion, particularly through seeing the impact thoughtful design can have when a project comes to life. In her work, she strives to create spaces that feel welcoming, inclusive, and fully accessible so that everyone can comfortably enjoy and engage with the environments she designs. She values the design process from initial concept through final presentation and enjoys exploring creative solutions that balance aesthetics, functionality, and user experience.

Statement

My senior thesis project, Echoes and Beginnings Center, focuses on creating a multigenerational space in Massachusetts that encourages interaction between children and seniors. The design will include three primary sections: a daycare area for children, a shared community space where children and seniors can participate in activities together, and a dedicated area focused on the care and support of seniors.

The daycare will serve younger children in the morning and will transition to a space for older children after school. The overall goal of the project is to create an environment that supports individuals of all ages by encouraging meaningful interaction between generations. Providing opportunities for children and seniors to engage with one another can promote both mental and physical well-being, encouraging seniors to stay active while also giving them the opportunity to share their knowledge, skills, and life experiences with younger generations.
