Statement
The visual world is where I take residency when I have nowhere else to go, my art speaking where words fail. As an interdisciplinary artist, I choose what to create based on a narrative, rather than by medium. I begin with an idea, an emotion, or an image, and then determine the most visceral material for my work come to life.
For my series of work that explored memory, I wanted literal representations, as if they were snapshots of very specific moments. This led me to work hyper realistically. Since moving on from that topic into themes of hybridity, I find myself wanting to bend reality more. As the inspiration for my practice has become more metaphorical, so does the work.
