About Jamie MacKenzie
Jamie MacKenzie is an interior designer based on the Southeastern coast of Massachusetts. She has received her Bachelor of Science at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, with a major in Interior Architecture & Design. Ever since she was a little kid, Jamie has dreamt about designing homes. She’d spend her time drawing perspectives, making cardboard floor plans, and experimenting with design software. Once she entered junior high school, she started taking architectural courses. Over the next nine years she learned programs such as SketchUp, Revit, Enscape, and AutoCAD. Old traditional architecture is what inspires her. What makes designs unique is everything ranging from small details to large focal points. Unique designs create memories, and Jamie wants to create spaces where people can enjoy themselves and create beautiful moments in time.
Statement
Jamie has always believed that all spaces should be accessible to everyone of all ages and abilities. Universal Design is something that she holds close to her heart along with traditional architectural styles like Gothic, Classical, and Victorian and their depth of character, detail, and craftsmanship.
Her goal is to create environments that are rich in detail, rooted in history, and fully inclusive through ADA or universal design solutions. Universal Design goes far beyond meeting minimum accessibility requirements. It’s about creating environments that are intuitive, welcoming, and usable by everyone without the need for adaptation. It considers the full spectrum of human experience, from mobility and sensory needs to cognitive ease and long-term usability. Jamie wants to ensure that spaces function gracefully throughout a person’s lifetime and that they adapt to their needs; not the other way around. She aspires to create spaces that leave an impact on the world, the individuals who experience it, and the community it serves. The spaces she designs should give people a sense of comfort and peace and allow them to create enjoyable memories. The character that comes with these styles is easier for people to connect to; it has emotion and so do we.
Ultimately, Jamie hopes that the designs she creates allow people to see themselves reflected in the spaces, forming a personal connection that enhances how they live, experience, and appreciate their environment.
