About Jesse Waine Talbot

Jesse Waine Talbot is a New England based artist and designer. Her studio work traverses mediums and genres, exploring themes of nature, the ideals of womanhood, and the digital ecosystem in many formats. Her greatest influences are those around her, but beyond that she is inspired by the work of artists and designers like Vaughan Oliver, Stig Møller Hansen, and Gustavo Munoz.

In her most recent work, she has begun to explore the cross-section between printed matter and technology, and hopes to extend her definition of informational literature and the incorporation of technological language within her work, creating valuable and tangible pieces of media that ground us while reminding us of the very human-ness of technology.

Statement

Through my work developing the Public Access Archive, I have fulfilled a deep seeded urge for preservation. The artistic and philosophical practices of observation and preservation are necessary aspects of retaining history. In the current landscape, I feel it is imperative to highlight independent, non-censored media that supports and informs local communities. These images, abstracted from their context, create a beautiful and at times absurd portrait of the humans exploration of media.
