Kelsie Couto is a 2D artist working in character design, illustration, and concept art. Their work explores themes of storytelling, family, expression, and building connections with viewers through 2D visuals. They are currently completing a degree in Animation + Game Arts at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
Statement
This art book explores the development process of creating a character for a game or animation project. My work focuses on communicating with the audience about who this character is and what their story represents. Each page highlights a different aspect of the character, including their emotions, abilities, narrative, and world.
I want viewers to learn about this character and get a sense of who he is, while also becoming curious to know more. I am interested in seeing how people react when meeting Laurance for the first time.
