About Koy Graves

Koy Graves is a digital and mixed-media illustrator with a love for crafting stories in various formats, whether that means making comics, seeing how many details and easter eggs they can fit into an illustration, or playing TTRPGs with their friends. A lifelong fan or horror and all things spooky, weird, and whimsical, they often strive to include these elements in their work. When not drawing, they enjoy writing, knitting, crocheting, reading, watching movies, and listening to whatever horror audio drama has grabbed their attention that week.

Statement 

When a close-knit group of friends discover that their apartment is haunted, they finally decide to do the one big thing that they have been putting off: start a band! They then form Wisteria, an alt/goth band inspired by their love of old horror movies. 

I created a collection of merch and a scrapbook that follows Wisteria from their inception in 1997 to their first show in 1998. Even though the focus is on a fictional band, I want the reader to feel immersed in the characters’ reality and relationships. 

Wisteria was inspired by my interest in the interactive storytelling of ARGs, as well as the collaborative storytelling of Monster of The Week and other TTRPGs. The idea for Wisteria came from a MOTW game I GM for some friends and likely would not exist without them.
