About Max Buscaglia

Max Buscaglia is an illustrator and comic artist currently based in Southeastern Massachusetts with a particular fondness for knights and the medieval. Through both professional and personal work, Max has developed his skills and passion for gritty, bold ink work in the character designs and comic art which have become his trademarks. When not drawing, he is usually reading comics such as Hellboy, watching various movies, or playing video games like For Honor, which have all been major sources of inspiration for his work.

Statement

I have often found myself surprised at the apparent lack of media depicting zombies and knights together, despite countless stories containing either one or the other. I’d thought it was a complete no-brainer (ha ha) to combine the classic thrill and horror of a zombie apocalypse with the gritty brutality of medieval warfare. But despite my searches, I found almost nothing quite to my liking. So, I decided to make it myself.

MORTIS is a short comic story following a disgraced knight turned mercenary commander fighting in a brutal civil war. Separated from his company, he sets out across the war-torn medieval countryside, where a new threat has begun to emerge…
