About Ryan Nash

Howdy! I’m Ryan Nash, and my work centers around animation and storytelling. Most of my work is digital, but I make an effort to apply the fundamentals I learned through traditional media within my workflow. I enjoy creating stories that make viewers laugh or feel personally connected as they watch.

Recently, I have been refocusing my work on experiences from my own life, along with exploring themes related to personal identity. During my time in college, I have served as a Freshman Representative for the Honors Council, Social Media Chair for the Animation Club, and worked as a Resident Assistant during my sophomore year.

Statement

This project was inspired by my passion for indie animation, as well as my friendship with my best friend, Adam Cordery. My capstone is based on our experiences exploring the woods and spending time together. Through this project, I explore themes of comedy, horror, and defied expectations. I want viewers to feel comforted by the world they are watching while also being entertained by the relationships between the characters.

If viewers can feel the fun I had while making this project, and maybe even feel inspired to spend time outdoors themselves, that would make me very happy as a creator. This capstone evolved throughout the year. The first video focused mostly on 2D animation, while the later piece blends many of the skills I have learned in college.

In the future, I hope to continue improving my ability to create projects that feel meaningful and engaging to viewers. Cartoons, movies, and video games have been my biggest sources of inspiration growing up, and if I can create animations that inspire others in the same way, I would be proud.
