About Samantha Viveiros
Samantha Viveiros is a graduating senior in the Interior Architecture + Design program at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Her passion lies within Healthcare and Commercial design, aiming to elevate the human experience. During her time on campus, she participated in Undergraduate Research with her project “Rethinking Patient Room Design in Clinical Settings: Coronary Care Unit” and was Senior Representative of the ASID Student Chapter.
Statement
The senior thesis, FMC Coronary Care Unit, explores how design elements can fully support patients, healthcare providers, and family members, focusing on Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts. This project contributes to the body of knowledge surrounding healthcare design and creating spaces that nurture and support the human experience. Sometimes, these spaces can be the last places of life. No one deserves to leave this world in a thoughtlessly designed space. FMC Coronary Care Unit is dedicated to Samantha’s late grandfather, family, and providers at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
