About Willem Thwing

Will Thwing is an illustrator based out of Pembroke, MA, whose primary focus is in sequential art. Although he usually works digitally, he still holds an appreciation for traditional mediums. When not creating images, he can be found around various bodies of water in Massachusetts, fishing.

Statement

Charged is a graphic novel that follows the vagrant duo Bal and Russ, passing through a city with enigmatic origins. Society is restructuring itself for the sole sake of efficiency; people are stripped of their agency in the process. Now the only source of control they have is their emotions. Those who master their emotions are known as Manipulators. They can control an energy known as Current. Inspired by shonen manga, Charged blends the paneling and inking typical of Japanese manga with an American hand. This marriage of style creates a raw, dynamic, impactful, yet unique reading experience.
