About Bridget Bagana

Bridget Bagana grew up in the nearby city of New Bedford, Massachusetts. She went to Highschool at Greater New Bedford Voc Tech where she studied Media Technology. At Umass Dartmouth, they choose to study Animation and Game Arts with a minor focus in Illustration. The majority of Bridget’s work focuses on Concept and Character design, utilizing artistic techniques to bring to life fantastical worlds and colorful characters.

Growing up, Bridget was most inspired by the worlds belonging to that of The Chronicles of Narnia, Alice in Wonderland, The Legend of Zelda, and Percy Jackson. Later in life, the works of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Studio Ghibli, anime like Demon Slayer and HunterxHunter most inspire their works. If there was one thing Bridget would say, “The most important part of the story is the characters. You could have the most compelling plot for a story in the world and the most complex of worlds, but if you don't have the right characters, then what’s the point?”

Statement

After exploring both the concentrations of Illustration and Animation, I have discovered that one of the key similarities they both share is that of the art of storytelling. One of my favorite things to do is creating my own characters and coming up with scenarios for their history, their personalities, and the worlds that they inhabit. Creating complex worlds that have their own rules is no simple task, and coming up with the right story that will best illustrate that world is even harder. 

For my Exhibition project, I have decided to show a glimpse into the characters I created for my original project titled “Event Horizon”

Event Horizon will follow the story of the 12 Zodiac bearers, each hero equipped with the power to maintain the balance of the worlds. However one fateful day long into the past, tragedy befell the 12 thanks to the betrayal of the scorned Ophiuchus, and the 12 were never seen or heard from again, effectively vanishing. As a result, the worlds fell into chaos.

Centuries down the line, in a world called Maanen, a new power begins to awaken, and hope is reborn in the form of a youth named Kira. Together, with the help of Aurelie and Lysander, the three will begin the hunt for the remaining zodiac bearers.
