About Emily Fontes
Emily Fontes is an illustrator, character designer, and graphic artist from Cranston, Rhode Island. She has also served on the executive board of 20 Cent Fiction and worked as a Student Ambassador for several years at UMass Dartmouth. Her creative inspirations include children's media such as CyberChase and Arthur, Dungeons and Dragons, Art Nouveau and the Golden Age of Illustration, and science fiction/fantasy franchises such as Pokémon and Star Wars.
Statement
Presented here are selections from a pitch deck I have created for an animated children’s show called Lucy vs. the Internet, meant to help teach elementary school age children about internet safety. The deck consists of many character designs as well as still images from a series of episodes of the show. This project challenged me to simplify my art style into something that was easily digestible for a young audience while still being legible and engaging.
