About Pat Finnegan

Pat Finnegan is a graphic designer based out of Westport Massachusetts. He is currently enrolled at The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, studying for his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, and is looking forward to graduating in the Spring of 2024. Pat’s passion for design began at a young age, noticing he enjoyed art classes more than any other. He loves working with his hands to create anything and everything. In his Junior year of highschool when he began drawing for fun, soon other friends would ask for drawings and he began to realize that this is what he wanted to do for a living. Create. He mainly sticks to digital arts but will not pass up some good painting projects. When he isn't designing, you can find him playing games online with friends or out with his family and friends enjoying time together.

Statement

Ever since I was a young kid, I have always found cars incredibly fascinating. It was through the movie Cars, where I found a passion in them. Countless nights I would stay up watching the movie, I could probably recite it word for word. Cars can tell people so much about the owner just by looking at it and hearing it, you can tell a whole lot about a personality. They aren’t  “just cars” you use them everyday to get to work, get to classes, go shopping, you use them all the time. This project is about one of the most historic cars ever made, the Pontiac GTO. Through this project I aim to take the viewer back in time to the mid to late 1960s to see what this car was all about and where it came from. My love for this car came to be through my Grandfather who has owned two of them. One of which was restored by my grandfather and father and is now in my garage today. Through this project I aim to show viewers that cars are a form of art and can be appreciated as such.
