About Vanessa DiMase
Vanessa DiMase is an illustrator from East Greenwich, RI, with a love of storytelling. With an interest in comics and character design, they have followed their passions to pursue a Bachelor’s in Illustration. Her main inspirations include a mix of eastern and western media, such as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Adventure Time, and classic shoujo manga.
Statement
My Capstone is a comic that follows Mika, an adventurous high schooler, and her experiences as she becomes the devil’s assistant. The story explores myths regarding the afterlife and concepts of morality in a playful manner. I aimed to convey a tone of whimsy and fun throughout the comic, so the reader can enjoy Mika’s adventures alongside her. I plan to post my work as a webcomic, allowing readers to continue following the story online. I hope you enjoy following Mika and her friends' journey as much as I love creating it.
