Statement

Yokai are ancient creatures, filled with mischief and magic. Their presence in Japanese folklore is so deep rooted, yet one rarely gets to see them nowadays.

My work is driven by a desire to have fun with these creatures. To describe them how they were in the past, while paying homage to the fictional field guides I devoured as a child.

The author within the pages is not quite me, but an embodiment of my excitement while working with the Yokai. My greatest hope for this series, is to spread some of that excitement onto the viewers and to show that these magical beings are far from extinct.
