The demand for accountants continues to grow as organizations of every size and industry rely on their expertise.

Our online BS in Accounting program equips students with essential financial knowledge and practical skills to become effective problem solvers and decision-makers.

Flexibly designed with part-time learners in mind, the program also offers a seamless path to an online MS in Accounting, with an accelerated bachelor to master option available.

Program curriculum and details

Accounting students learn how to:

  • Apply accounting concepts, standards, and regulations to prepare, audit, and analyze financial statements and tax reports
  • Prepare, analyze, and communicate information for financial planning, control, investing, and decision making
  • Apply concepts and methods used in internal control and the auditing process
  • Use accounting systems to conduct and control operations

The UMassD Charlton School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the highest international accreditation standard for schools of business.

Transferring to UMassD

With our generous transfer policy, students with existing credits may transfer up to 90 credits from a regionally accredited institution.

UMass Dartmouth Accounting degree completion program requires students to complete 120 credits, and includes hands-on work experience through internship programs.

Transfer Applicants

  • Submit official transcripts from all accredited colleges or universities for which you enrolled in courses

Students coming directly from high school and/or with 0-11 college credits will be required to: 

  • have high school transcript sent to UMass Dartmouth 
  • have official SAT or ACT scores sent to UMass Dartmouth (only required for those applicants with a high school GPA under 3.0 and graduated from high school less than four years ago)

Students who complete high school through the GED/HiSET program will be required to:

  • submit a copy of the GED/HiSET certificate from the state
  • submit a copy of your GED/HiSET test record
  • submit an official high school transcript

UMass Dartmouth Online Accelerated Program - Bachelor's to Master's degree 

Jump-start your master's degree by exploring UMass Dartmouth's Accelerated Program where students save time and tuition. How? Students take up to 3 graduate-level courses online while pursuing their bachelor's degree. These courses count towards their bachelor's and master's programs.

CPA certification requires an additional 30 credits in addition to the 120 credits for your bachelor's degree. Students interested in a public accounting career should discuss with their advisor how UMass Dartmouth's Accelerated Program - BS to MS in Accounting - is a viable option to complete the additional hours of education required.

Online courses are taught by UMass Dartmouth faculty to provide high quality instruction and personal attention. Students have the flexibility to accommodate work and home responsibilities within the structure of defined assignment due dates. The majority of our online courses are taught asynchronously.
