About Sarah Delorey

Hello! My name is Sarah Delorey and I am a graduating senior in the Interior Architecture and Design program here at UMass Dartmouth. I have always been passionate with all forms of art but could never find something quite right for my skillset. After discovering what Interior Design entails and what I could do with this education, there was nothing else I could ever imagine myself doing.

Statement

During the course of senior year as an Interior Architecture and Design student each of us design for a Thesis project that we spend the first semester researching and the second semester designing. For my Thesis I have designed an Outdoor Resort located in North Carolina. The purpose of this space is to provide a vacation destination for those that crave a connection with nature and a break from their everyday routine. By researching the hypothesis of biophilia and patterns we see in design that encourage this innate connection with nature, this design was developed. Focusing on taking a public, mostly indoor restaurant and turning it into an immersive experience with nature. As well as providing unique experiences in each guest’s private cabin.
