Statement

Overture has been one of my most challenging and longest running projects. The original concepts date back to 2/6/2021 where instead of a top down, vector styled dungeon crawler it was an 8bit pixel side-scroller. The original concept VaperPlague was a study where I had only focused on environmental design as well as narrative. From there I had partnered with Madison Chartier whereas they created the characters for the game. After receiving professional feedback, a creative decision was made to abandon the pixel style and venture into additional territory. Through this process, new references were needed not only for a visual choice but also gameplay elements that would make the game stand out. For this portion of the year, I had taken on all disciplines such as character creation, level design, narrative, and storyboarding. This leap was not just to translate pixel to vector, it was to expand the concept, and drive it in a direction to be something that fits together as a full game and not just a fraction of it.
