Online Undergraduate Certificate

The UMass Dartmouth certificate in Portuguese Language and Cultures helps develop and strengthen communication skills in Portuguese, as well as understanding of related cultures. This certificate is for entry level Portuguese language learners seeking a strong foundation in the Portuguese language and Lusophone cultures. It prepares students to take advantage of opportunities in fields such as international relations, business, translation and interpretation, teaching, government, and many more.

Eligible students have earned at least high school diploma or equivalent.

This certificate program is offered 100% online.

Curriculum

UMass Dartmouth Portuguese Language and Cultures online certificate program students must complete 12 credits to receive the certificate.

Required Courses

  • POR 102: Elementary Portuguese II (3 credits)
  • POR 201: Intermediate Portuguese I (3 credits)
  • POR 202: Intermediate Portuguese II (3 credits)
  • POR 301: Portuguese Composition and Conversation I (3 credits)

*POR 101: Elementary Portuguese I is a prerequisite to POR 102. A placement test is available to go directly into POR 102
