About Lori Viveiros

Lori Viveiros is a 2D/3D artist and animator from Massachusetts. She has worked in a wide array of mediums, starting in traditional media like drawing, oil painting, and mixed media sculpture. In college, she expanded into digital work which includes digital painting, 3D sculpting/modeling, 3D animation, and Virtual/Augmented Reality. Through high school, she harbored a passion for film, which drove her towards a major in animation and visual storytelling. She collaborated with a classmate on a project called Divine Indulgence, which is a 2D puzzle game made on GameMaker. She designed the concept art for the game, all digitally rendered using Adobe Illustrator. Regarding animation, she mainly works in 3D character and stop motion animation. Her first foray into animation and stop motion was during a summer course at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, her junior year of high school. This summer course started off as a trial but ended up setting Lori on an animation career path.

Where's My Ducking Son

Statement

Lori Viveiros’ senior capstone project is a stop motion animated short titled, Where is my Ducking Son? This project combined animation and cinematography, two of Lori’s passions. The short is animated using found objects, which includes an assortment of rubberducks, children’s toys, and miniatures. Emulating the feelings and expressions of the characters (rubberducks) posed a challenge. She had to rely completely on “body language”, sound effects, and editing. This project is the crossroad between physical and digital mediums. The short is photographed using a camera and tripod, and staged with real objects and camera angles/movements. The digital aspects were the use of Dragonframe for photographing each frame, Adobe After Effects for video editing, and Reaper for audio editing.
