About Vinitha Palle

Vinitha Palle is a Massachusetts-based designer whose earliest inspiration was her mother, who instilled in her a love for fabric, textures, and the art of sewing, in which she found great solace while growing up. She decided to pursue her passion as a career and is currently studying Fashion Design at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth.

She draws inspiration from Indian cultural and historical elements of fashion which are known for their intricate embellishments, luxurious fabrics, and timeless appeal. She tries to explore the intersection of tradition and modernity through her work, showcasing a love for her Indian heritage while also incorporating them into her designs in a way that is both modern and relevant.

Statement

My collection is inspired by the beauty, grandeur, and elegance of the Taj Mahal. The collection features a range of garments that draw upon the intricate details and ornate embellishments of the Taj Mahal. From the stunning marble facades to the delicate arches and intricate carvings, every element of the Taj Mahal has been incorporated into the designs. I have used luxurious fabrics, such as silk and velvet to evoke the opulence of the monument and to create a sense of grandeur.

The color palette is inspired by the changing hues of the Taj Mahal at different times of the day and also from the legendary Black Taj Mahal which was planned to be built opposite to the Taj Mahal but was never completed. I have also used intricate embroidery and beading techniques to create an interplay between light and shadow, much like the intricate play of light and shadows on the Taj Mahal’s walls and domes, and also to pay homage to the intricate carvings of the Taj.
