Summer '09 Sustainability Camp

The Office of Campus and Community Sustainability at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth campus is pleased to announce an exciting summer program brought to you in collaboration with the Southcoast STEM Network. This one-week program is FREE except for the $10.00 registration fee (**Scholarships are available for those students in need). The camp will take place from July 13th-17th, 2009 from 9 am to 4 pm at UMass Dartmouth.

All students entering grades 6, 7, and 8 in September, 2009, are eligible to participate in an exciting "green-building" sustainability summer camp program! You will work as environmental architects to design a sustainable building of the future ... decide what eco-friendly materials, energy sources, and transportation your future city will have!

REGISTER NOW (or in Portuguese or Spanish)! Registration is "first-come, first-serve," limit 60 students, preference given to new campers. Registration deadline is June 5th. All students who apply will be notified by June 12th as to whether or not they have been enrolled in the 2009 camp. Details relating to transportation, camper responsibilities, and program activities will be outlined at that time.

This camp is sponsored by the Southcoast Regional PreK-16 Network and funded through the Department of Higher Education's STEM Pipeline Fund. The STEM Pipeline Fund seeks to improve teacher preparation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects and to increase student interest in, preparation for, and success in STEM careers.
