BNG 418: Biosurfaces     - fall

Prereq: BNG 316, BNG 321

Discussions on the surface interactions between tissues and biomaterials. Protein adsorption to biomaterials, biomolecule-nanomaterial interactions, ligand-functionalized biomaterial surfaces, growth factors on biomaterial scaffolds, cell and tissue interactions with biomaterials, functionalization of materials to promote protein and cell interactions, hydrogels in biology and medicine, inflammatory response to implanted biomaterials, and prevention of postsurgical adhesions are the topics to be covered.
