Overview of Massachusetts mental health litigation. Students will gain an understanding of the relevant statute, rules of evidence, and case law that governs civil commitment and involuntary treatment.  Will explore consequences of forced hospitalization and treatment and how race, economic status, and other differences in identity, impacts entry into the mental health system and access to less restrictive alternatives.
