Ann Kim is an arts administrator, artist, and educator with over 15 years of experience in higher ed who believes in impactful, collaborative, transformative, and supportive education through creative problem-solving and servant leadership.
She is currently the Associate Dean of College of Visual and Performing Arts at UMass Dartmouth, serving as the Chief Academic Officer for the College. Her main responsibilities include all curricular matters including program revisions, assessment, accreditation, scheduling, and hiring and staffing of part time instructors. She also leads various co-curricular community partnerships with external organizations.
Prior to this role, she was a Professor and the Fine and Performing Arts Department Chair at Indiana University East, where she was a full time faculty for 14 years. During this time, she also served as a core faculty in both Fine Arts and International Studies programs, and designed and developed over 15 new courses including five online and one hybrid courses. As the Department Chair of Fine and Performing Arts Department, she oversaw departmental course scheduling, part-time instructor hiring and training, program assessment, faculty professional development fund budget, departmental budget, and event and project management.
Her service to the professional field has always emphasized community engagement, and she has held numerous leadership positions including the Board President of The Dayton Society of Artists and national board member of MidAmerica College Art Association, leading board meetings, overseeing master event calendars, fundraising, and budget. She is currently on the board of DATMA (Design, Art, Technology, Massachusetts) and the Global Learning Public Charter School, both based in New Bedford, MA, and is also serving on the Education Committee of the College Art Association, the largest academic professional organization for art, design, and art history. She has also presented nationally and internationally on topics ranging from art pedagogy to her art practice.
