All allegations of research misconduct are reviewed promptly and in accordance with institutional policy and applicable federal regulations.

  • Assessment: Upon receipt, the allegation is evaluated to determine whether it falls within the definition of research misconduct and is sufficiently credible and specific to proceed.
  • Inquiry: If warranted, an inquiry is initiated to conduct a preliminary review of the available evidence and determine whether an investigation is necessary.
  • Investigation: If an investigation is initiated, a thorough examination of all relevant facts and evidence is conducted by individuals with appropriate expertise and no conflicts of interest.

Throughout all stages, the institution maintains confidentiality to the extent possible, protects the rights of all parties, and ensures a fair, objective, and timely process.
