Online Learning

Online learning may create the need for accommodations that are different from those needed in traditional, face-to-face courses. Determining which accommodations are needed requires a review that determines a student's functional limitations of a disability.

Possible reasonable accommodations for online course may be:

  • Extended time
  • Comprehending written instructions
  • Alternative methods of communicating
  • Viewing and/or hearing online video
  • Hearing online audio recordings
  • Other issues unique to the disability

All accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis based on the information provided to our office and the accommodations recommended by the professional evaluator.

If you have a disability and would contact disability services for services in taking classes on campus, there may be issues of access to online classes and your participation that should be explored as early as possible.
