Is your name in the Commencement program?

Verify your name is in the Commencement program. Resources are available in the event your name is not on the list, or your degree name is not listed correctly.

Caps & Gowns

Caps and gowns can now be picked up at the Campus Store in the Campus Center.

The pickup dates are:

  • Wednesday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Please note that you can pick up your cap and gown after these dates, but ensure the Campus Store is open. Don't forget to bring your cap and gown to your Ceremony!

Important pickup info:

  • If you did not submit an order, the University orders extras to ensure everyone has a cap and gown for their Commencement Ceremony. You can still pick up a cap and gown (all gown sizes are not guaranteed for students who did not preorder).
  • If you have a hold, you cannot pick up your cap and gown until the hold is resolved. The Bursar's office staff will be at the Campus Store to provide more information on resolving holds.
  • If you have not yet applied for graduation, you cannot pick up your cap and gown until the application has been completed through COIN. Please visit the graduation website for the steps to apply for graduation.
  • If you are a Summer expected graduate, you cannot pick up your cap and gown until you have completed the permission to participate form and received full approval to attend the Commencement Ceremony. Please visit the graduation website for our summer expected graduate policies and permission forms.

Did you order shipping for your cap and gown?

  • The Campus Store will contact eligible individuals who submitted the shipping form regarding payment and confirm their address after April 26.
  • If you have a hold, you cannot ship your cap and gown until the hold is resolved. Please submit an inquiry with the Student Service Center as soon as possible to learn how to resolve your holds.

Honors Cords

At Commencement, your cumulative GPA determines your honor, and which honors cord you receive (Spring 2024 grades are not included). This information is sent to the vendor before caps and gowns are shipped, so the University does not make any exceptions or accommodations regarding the cord a student receives. However, when your degree is awarded, your transcript and diploma will include all UMass Dartmouth coursework, including the final semester. Honor cords are only for undergraduate students.

Honor cords signify:

  • 3.200 to 3.499 - Cum Laude - White
  • 3.500 to 3.799 Magna Cum Laude – Navy Blue
  • 3.800 to 4.000 Summa Cum Laude - Gold
