GLC 340: Americans in Paris - fall

General Education requirement: Cult & Art Literacy/Global

Survey of how living in Paris shaped a diverse range of Americans such as Josephine Baker, James Baldwin, Mary Cassatt, Angela Davis, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and Jackie Kennedy, as well as ordinary Americans like WWI and WWII soldiers. Issues of race, class, gender, and sexuality are highlighted. Develops cross-cultural literacy and critical thinking about history.
