SOA 244: Memory and Oral Histories - fall

General Education requirement: Global Awareness

Exploration of how shared understandings of the past are created and shaped by oral histories verbalized by marginalized populations. Students investigate how collective memories are fashioned in sites such as museums, family, and community. Students engage in oral history projects and are empowered with historical narrative. We will question why some histories are taught and disseminated while others are silenced.
