This course facilitates a successful transition to college life by engaging students in a structured curriculum of academic and life skills enhancement and encouraging the development of enduring relationships between students, faculty and advisors, and classmates.

Provides an introduction to political theory. History and development of political thought; key concepts, values, theories and ideologies that inform political practice; analysis of political discourse and argumentation.

Analysis of the policy-making processes, including agenda setting, adoption, implementation, and evaluation. These processes will be examined through the lens of major US policy areas such as education, the environment, and crime and justice policy.
Special topics course in the field of Public Administration. May be repeated with change of content.

Prof. Soondar’s research and teaching interests are centered on public administration and public policy. In particular, her work focuses on food accessibility and policy analysis, food security programs, and food justice. Soondar is currently working on tracking food sovereignty policies over time while accounting for major shifts, including COVID-19. The goal is to discover what drives successful food policy implementation to inform advocacy.
