Exchange Students

Welcome to UMass Dartmouth

Students coming to UMass Dartmouth from our international partner universities will find that our campus is home to a vibrant, welcoming community of students and faculty from around the world.  Located in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, UMassD is a bus ride away from the small and historic cities of New Bedford and Fall River, and an hour's travel from metropolitan Boston.

Exchange programs

UMass Dartmouth and the University of Massachusetts system have a number of active exchange programs that students may participate in. Some Colleges and Schools have their own exchange agreements and others are open to students from any discipline. In VIA, search for "Exchanges" and "Partnerships."

The UMass Dartmouth community welcomes exchange students from:

  • Emlyon Business School, Lyon, France
  • Université de Pau et des Pays de L'adour, France
  • Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, Germany
  • Frankfurt Univ of Applied Sciences, Germany
  • Hessen, Germany - UMass state-to-state partnership
  • University of Limerick (Law School Exchange), Ireland
  • Maynooth University Maynooth, Ireland
  • International College of Liberal Arts  Yamanashi, Japan
  • University of Murcia, Spain
  • Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom

Exchange programs enable students from our partner universities to attend UMassD at little or no additional cost.  Tuition & fees are paid to the home university. See the current university catalog for course descriptions and academic policies.  

Apply to an exchange program

Students of UMass Dartmouth partner universities bring a welcome diversity and experience to the classrooms and student life. To get started, consult with the international office of your home university and submit the Exchange Application.  

Apply by April 1 for Fall semester and October 15 for Spring.

Pre-arrival resources

View your class schedule in COIN

  1. The Student Center page displays a summary view of your schedule.
  2. Click the Quick Links list to see a more detailed version of your schedule.
  3. Select Class Schedule.
  4. Click the Arrow (Go) button to continue.
  5. Use the My Class Schedule page to view all of the classes you are enrolled in; including the instructor, room, and time of the classes.
  6. Select the Weekly Calendar View option.
  7. Now your schedule is arranged in a weekly calendar format - perfect for printing!
