OFD Writing Retreats

Do you feel as if you don’t have enough time to write a conference paper or publication, work on a grant, or prepare the proposal you’ve been meaning to submit?  The OFD offers semester-long virtual writing retreats. During this time we will meet virtually, spend just a few minutes discussing our writing for the session and then spend 70 minutes of quiet time focused on writing.  No interruptions, no distractions: just writing. Benefits include a commitment to writing and holding yourself accountable to that commitment in a supportive environment. Participants are welcome to bring work of any kind, at any stage.

In Fall 2022, we will conduct a "night owls" virtual writing retreat, which will meet on Thursday evenings from 7:30-8:30 p.m. In Spring 2023, we will conduct an "early risers" writing retreat that will meet early in the morning on a day to be determined.

Additionally, we hold periodic in-person "writing days" on campus for faculty to bring work of any kind, at any stage for a dedicated period of uninterrupted work time. We begin with some framing questions and reflection and then move toward several focused blocks of writing time. Refreshments and lunch are served. Dates for 2022-2023 are forthcoming.

Questions about OFD writing retreats should be directed to Dr. Monika Schuler, OFD Assistant Director,
