Mosquito-Borne Illnesses Advisory

As the new academic year begins, many of us will be attending outdoor activities or will be walking across our beautiful campus—and as a result might be bitten by mosquitoes. Take precautions to protect yourselves from mosquito bites.

Avoid mosquito bites

  • Limit the amount of time you spend outdoors between dusk and dawn, as those are peak biting times for mosquitoes, including those that might carry mosquito-borne illnesses such as West Nile and EEE.
  • Wear long sleeves, long pants, and socks when outdoors to help keep mosquitoes away from your skin.
  • Apply mosquito repellent when outdoors, according to the manufacturer’s directions.

As part of their mosquito control campaign, Facilities has the grounds sprayed and treated standing water with larvicide, as needed.
