Collecting Data on Race and Ethnicity
When collecting data on race and ethnicity the format below is used:
Race/Ethnicity Questions
First question:
1) Are you a Non-Resident Alien (visa holder)?
Second question:
For US Citizens and Permanent Residents:
1) Are you Hispanic or Latino? Yes or No
2) Regardless of you answer to the prior question, please check one or more of the following groups in which you consider yourself to be a member:
American Indian or Alaska Native (including all Original Peoples of the Americas)
Asian from Indian subcontinent
All other Asian descent
Cape Verdean
African American
Other Black (including Africa and Caribbean)
Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander (Original Peoples)
Portuguese
White (including Middle Eastern)
This will be replaced by the new federal regulations with an implementation target of 2026-2027.
Peer Institutions
Each university in the UMass system has a set of peer institutions that are used as benchmarks in the UMass President's Office Performance Measurement System (PMS). The following eight institutions (listed in alphabetical order) have been identified as UMass Dartmouth's peer institutions.
