Office of Research Support

The Research Support Team provides administrative support to Research Faculty by facilitating processes from proposal preparation through grant close-out.  The Team promotes collaborative efforts to enhance response time and efficiency in supporting UMass Dartmouth Research Faculty.  Our support services offer a wide range of tasks such as students hiring, travel authorizations, expense reports, award notifications, gift cards, and purchasing. We value the relationship we have established with our Research Faculty, and we strive on providing them with the best support possible.

NMR Manager and Research Support

The NMR Manager and Research Support position provides critical support for all core facilities and shared equipment across the entire campus, encompassing current, potential, and future core facilities. This role will address a wide range of research needs related to core facilities throughout the University. The position involves close collaboration with faculty, administrators, and university leadership to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines. Key responsibilities include managing the utilization of core research facilities, tracking usage, funding sources, operating costs, and revenues, as well as overseeing the preparation of internal and external invoices. The role also involves daily oversight of core facility operations, related lab utilization, and the technical support necessary for related research at UMassD.  Additionally, the position provides input to the Deans and the Chief Research Officer on faculty core facility needs for research labs and studios, implements inventory management for core facility equipment, and offers recommendations for equipment purchases and core upgrades.

Yaping Liu earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Sichuan University in 2014, followed by a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2019. She then joined Johns Hopkins University as a postdoctoral researcher, before continuing her postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan in 2020. In January 2025, Dr. Liu joined UMass Dartmouth as an NMR Manager and Research Support Specialist. In this role, she has been instrumental in establishing and managing core facilities, while also providing technical support for a broad range of research needs at UMass Dartmouth. Dr. Liu’s research primarily focuses on the structure elucidation of small molecules, proteins, DNA, and RNA through NMR spectroscopy.
