Microsoft Remote Desktop

Use the sections below to install and set up Microsoft Remote Desktop for Corsair Desktop. Choose the instructions that match your device (macOS or Windows). You only need to complete these steps once.

Why is this required?
Corsair Desktop requires Microsoft Remote Desktop to support accessories such as drawing tablets, USB storage, microphones, and cameras. These features are not available when connecting through a web browser.

Before you begin, be sure you have your Apple ID and password to download apps from the App Store.

Installation steps

  1. Open a web browser and go to Microsoft’s Remote Desktop documentation for macOS.
  2. Select the download link for Microsoft Remote Desktop.
  3. When redirected to the Mac App Store, choose View in Mac App Store.
  4. Select Get, then Install.
  5. If prompted, sign in with your Apple ID.
  6. When installation is complete, select Open.

Open the application

  1. Open Applications and launch Microsoft Remote Desktop.
  2. If prompted about data sharing, select Not Now.

Camera and microphone Access

  1. These permissions are optional and only required if your coursework includes audio or video.
  2. You may safely deny access if you do not need these features.
  3. Permissions can be changed later in macOS System Settings.

Add the Corsair Desktop workspace

  1. Select the Workspaces tab.
  2. Choose Add Feed.
  3. Enter the workspace URL: https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com/api/arm/feeddiscovery
  4. Select Add.

Sign in

  1. Enter your UMass Dartmouth email address.
  2. Select Work or school account.
  3. Log in using your UMassD Logon credentials.

Connect to Corsair Desktop

  1. Double‑click CVPA Corsair Desktop.
  2. Log in when prompted.
  3. Disconnect when finished.

Download the installer

  1. Open a web browser and visit Microsoft’s Remote Desktop download page for Windows.
  2. Select the Windows 64‑bit download option.
  3. Save the file when prompted.

 

Run the installer  

  1. Open the downloaded installer file.
  2. If a security warning appears, select OK.
  3. Follow the setup wizard and accept the license agreement.
  4. Select your preferred installation scope and choose Install.
  5. When installation is complete, select Finish.

Open Remote Desktop

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Search for and open Remote Desktop.
  3. Select Subscribe.

Sign in

  1. Enter your UMass Dartmouth email address.
  2. Select Work or school account.
  3. Log in with your UMassD Logon credentials.

Connect to Corsair Desktop

  1. Double‑click CVPA Corsair Desktop.
  2. Log in when prompted.
  3. Disconnect when finished.
