Yes, use the Pharos Secure Release Mobile App.

The mobile app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and is called “Pharos Secure Release.” The icon is a gray square with a torch. (Warning- DO NOT choose the app called “Pharos Print”!)

If you have the Microsoft OneDrive app and the Pharos Secure Release app installed on your device, you can open the document on your phone and click “Secure Printer”. The Pharos Secure Release app will open and your file will be sent to your PrintLess queue.

During the one-time setup for the Pharos Secure Release mobile app, a printing profile is installed on your mobile device. One of the certificates in the Secure Printer profile expires annually at the end of April.

To refresh your printer profile, remove the printer profile located in your phone settings and re-install the printer profile. In your phone settings, go to General --> VPN & Device Management. Select Secure Printer and Remove Profile.

In the Pharos Secure Release mobile app, open the one-time setup instructions to download a new Secure Printer profile. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the new profile on your mobile device.

Use the "Print & Retain" option on the device when releasing your documents from your print queue.

This way, the document remains available for up to 48 hours to reprint, if needed.

If you need any assistance with printing in the Claire T. Carney Library, please go to the 1st floor circulation desk.

At all other PrintLess locations, please contact CITS. Please reference your location when you contact CITS for help.

Mistakes happen occasionally.

If you use "Print & Retain" to release your document from your PrintLess queue, it will remain for up to 48 hours in your print queue. You can re-print the job or resend the job if you need to update print settings to your PrintLess queue.

Note: At this time, all print jobs will be printed single-sided in color via myPrintCenter.

Need additional prints with different print settings? Print one copy and use the copier function at the PrintLess Station to print further copies with updated print settings (double-sided, black & white, etc.)

Yes. Copying is available at all Toshiba MFD PrintLess locations. Tap your UMass Pass to get started at any PrintLess location. For more detailed instructions about using printers, view Printers instructions.

In addition to using the public PrintLess locations, most faculty have college and departmental multi-function devices at their disposal. Faculty can use their UMassPass or the Pharos Secure Release mobile app to release print jobs, make copies, and scan files at any PrintLess location.

The print release stations require a UMass Pass or the use of the Pharos Secure Release app. If you do not have a UMass Pass, you can obtain one at the UMass Pass office (first floor of the campus center) during regular business hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm. There is no cost for the first UMass Pass; there is, however, a $25 fee to replace a lost UMass Pass.

No. You will need to resend the files to your PrintLess queue using one of the 3 methods: using a university-owned computer, such as the Library public computers, the myPrintCenter queue, or the Pharos Secure Release mobile app.

Print credits are the new way UMass Dartmouth measures student printing through Pharos Cloud (PrintLess). Instead of unlimited printing, students now draw from a semester‑based credit allotment. This change aligns with peer institutions, encourages responsible printing, and supports the long‑term sustainability of campus printing resources.

Students receive:

  • 4,000 print credits for Spring & Summer
  • 4,000 print credits for Fall & Winter

Print credits are automatically applied when printing at any campus PrintLess station.

No. Unused credits do not roll over to the next semester. Credits are replenished every August and January before the start of each semester.

Black & White:

  • 10 credits — single‑sided
  • 15 credits — double‑sided

Color:

  • 25 credits — single‑sided
  • 40 credits — double‑sided

Students are encouraged to print double‑sided whenever possible to save credits and reduce paper use.

Credits remain active only for the semester in which they are issued. They expire at the end of that period and cannot be transferred or refunded.

Print credit reinstatements are available only for verified technical issues, including:

  • Printer malfunctions or jams
  • System errors causing failed or duplicate jobs

Reinstatements cannot be issued for:

  • Wrong print settings
  • Printing the wrong file
  • Unused credits

Requests must be submitted within 3 business days via an IT Support Request and must include:

  • Date and time of issue
  • Printer location
  • Description of the problem
  • Estimated credits lost

Approved reinstatements are generally processed within 2–3 business days.

Requests for additional credits are rare and not guaranteed. If you have an exceptional academic need, submit an IT Support Request explaining your situation. Each case is reviewed individually.
