ADA/Section 504 compliance

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is committed to equal and integrated inclusion of individuals with disabilities and is continually improving the accessibility of our campus, programs, and activities.  The University’s ADA/504 Coordinator is Sandra Escaleira, Assistant Director of Human Resources.

For employees

ADA accommodations

Employees who are seeking information, services, and resources related to ADA/Section 504, reasonable workplace accommodation requests, medical leaves of absences, etc., please visit the Human Resources Portal.  You may also contact Human Resources directly via e-mail at benefits@umassd.edu or by calling 508-999-8045.

Accommodations based on sincerely-held religious beliefs

Employees requesting accommodations based on sincerely-held religious beliefs should contact Human Resources at benefits@umassd.edu or by calling 508-999-8045.

For students

ADA accommodations

Students who may need an accommodation based on the impact of a documented disability should contact the Office of Student Accessibility Services via e-mail at access_success@umassd.edu or by calling 508-999-8711.  Services available through the Office of Student Accessibility Services include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Exam accommodations which include extended time (quizzes and exams);
  • Use of audio recording in the classroom
  • Front row/preferred seating
  • Priority registration

Accommodations based on sincerely-held religious beliefs

Students requesting accommodations based on sincerely-held religious beliefs should also contact the Office of Student Accessibility Services via e-mail at access_success@umassd.edu or by calling 508-999-8711.

Grievance procedure

Students, employees, or other community members who believe they have been discriminated against on the basis of their disability (or sincerely-held religious belief) may file a complaint with the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.  Complaints should be submitted via the online complaint form or via e-mail to David A. Gomes, Chief Diversity Officer / Title IX Coordinator.  Individuals who are unable to file a complaint by these methods or require assistance may call (508) 999-8810.  Complaints will be adjudicated pursuant to the Equal Opportunity and Anti-Harassment Complaint Procedure
