I. Policy
Firearms of any type, assembled or disassembled, ammunition, knives, machetes, javelins, martial arts, clubs, or any devices that can be considered hazardous to the welfare of members of the University community are strictly prohibited on campus and on any University programs.
II. Purpose
This policy is necessary to protect the lives of all members of the campus community and their guests.
Ill. Definitions
All firearms or weapons listed in the Policy Statement and those included in Massachusetts or Federal law are considered to be included in this policy.
IV. Procedures
Any violation of this policy, including violations of state laws or town ordinances prohibiting the manufacture, sale, purchase, transportation, possession, concealment, or use of firearms, cutting instruments, explosives, incendiary devices, or other deadly weapons will result in prosecution and will be subject to severe disciplinary action, up to, and including, dismissal from the University.
V. Responsibility
The Department of Public Safety assumes responsibility for communicating and working with the campus community to comply with this policy. The Department of Public Safety will utilize the campus judicial system and/or the external legal system as deemed appropriate to adjudicate all alleged violations of this policy.
